Alfreda is originally from a small central Alabama town called Childersburg located 40 minutes from downtown Birmingham. She is an only child who grew up in a small rural community that valued education and entrepreneurial minds. Her mentors growing up were a local convenient store owner, hair stylist and a high school history instructor.

After graduating from a local high school in 1984 Alfreda entered into Alabama A&M University in Normal, Al as a sociology major with a minor in criminal justice. In the spring of 1988 she completed her studies and received a B.A. Degree in sociology. In 1992 she was accepted into the graduated program at Mercer University in Atlanta, GA where she majored in technology management. She completed her studies in the spring of 1995 with a M.S. degree in technology management.

She has been a small business owner and a employee working in several industries. In 1989, the opportunity of a life time came when I started working for Booker T. Washington Insurance Company out of Birmingham. Mr. A.G. Gaston who is a business pioneer, started and lead the company along with opening several businesses throughout state. Mr. Gaston was known as a self made millionaire who would later inspire her to start her own automotive brokerage company in 1990 to 1993. In 1997, she join the IBM Corporation in Atlanta, GA working initially in a call center as a customer service representative. After two and half years she was promoted into the customer service organizational where she is currently employed as Contract Analyst.
